Manly house price record smashed by $10m with $35m sale

A newly built home at Fairy Bower has smashed the Manly house price record by $10m in what’s the second-highest result ever on the northern beaches.

The incredible Madeleine Blanchfield Architects-designed residence had a $35m guide when launched to the market just two weeks ago, and sources advise it’s achieved very close to that.

No word yet on the purchasers.

When contacted, sales agents Michael Clarke and Cherie Humel of Clarke & Humel were tight-lipped though the realestate.com.au ad now shows it’s sold.

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom home at 44 Bower St is owned by Justine Acret, wife of Chris Acret, the co-founder of mortgage broker Smartline, bought by REA in 2017 as part of a $67m deal.

She’d bought the leasehold land (it’s owned by the Catholic Church, like most of Bower St) for $14m in 2018, commissioning Blanchfield and then Dangar Barin Smith for the gardens.

The property was pitched as one of the finest residences ever offered on the northern beaches.

The tri-level home has a northerly aspect and has a 180-degree panorama over Shelly Beach and the Fairy Bower headland to the Central Coast and back down to Manly Beach.
